Junior Setter Rachel Alvey is this week's USD/Muscle Milk Student Athlete of the Week

SAN DIEGO, Calif. After helping USD go 2-0 last week and move into sole possession of first place in the WCC, junior setter Rachel Alvey was selected as the USD/Muscle Milk Student Athlete of the Week.
Alvey, a Morgan Hill, Calif native, recorded 97 total assists, with an impressive 12.1 assists-per-set ratio, as she helped direct the Torero offense to a .232 team attack percentage.
Alvey began the week with a double-double, recording 52 assists and 13 digs in the win over Loyola Marymount last Thursday. Then on Saturday, she managed to record 45 assists, while digging out three balls and helping the team hit for a .282 clip in the victory over Portland.
On the season Alvey has 506 assists (9.92 aps), and helped steer the Torero offense to a .248 attack percentage.
Alvey and the rest of the No. 16 Toreros return to action Wednesday evening at 6 p.m. when they host Saint Mary's (8-7, 3-1) in front of a national TV audience (ESPNU).
