Volleyball Remains at No. 8 in the Latest Polls

SAN DIEGO, Calif. - The University of San Diego women's volleyball team held steady at No. 8 in the latest American Volleyball Coaches Association top-25 poll. This marks the 10th consecutive week that the Toreros have appeared in the top-25, and marks USD's seventh week all together in the top-10, having reached as high as No. 2 on Sept. 16.

San Diego posted another perfect 2-0 record this past week, which moved their season-high winning streak to 12, and also moved them into a tie for first place in the WCC. The Toreros picked up a 3-1 road win against Santa Clara, then rallied for a 3-2 come-from-behind win over San Francisco at War Memorial Gym.

In Thursday's win over SCU, Chloe Ferrari led the team with 15 kills, while hitting for a .462 clip, and she recorded six blocks. Alaysia Brown was the only other Torero in double-digit kills, as she had 13, while hitting .342, and she recorded six blocks. Jianna Bonomi recorded a double-double with 27 assists and 18 digs, while C'era Oliveira also recorded 18 digs. As a team, USD hit .206.

Then in Saturday's thrilling come-from-behind win, Ferrari recorded her career-high 22 kills on 44 swings, to hit for a .386 clip, while also recording four blocks. Brown recorded 15 kills, hit .294 and recorded three blocks. Katie Hoekman recorded 11 kills and racked up a season-high nine blocks, while Taylor Hollins recorded 10 kills and had 16 digs to post a double-double. Oliveira recorded a season-high 27 digs, while Bonomi (33 assists) and Rachel Alvey (25 assists) helped steer the USD offense to a .207 attack percentage.



The Toreros will return to action on Thursday, when they host the University of Portland in a 7 p.m. WCC match. This match has been deemed the WCC Match of the Week, and will air live on TheW.tv in full high definition.
