Volleyball Holds Steady at No. 20 in the Latest Rankings

SAN DIEGO, Calif. - The University of San Diego women's volleyball team holds steady at No. 20 n the latest AVCA top-25 poll after posting a 1-1 record in the final week of the regular-season.

USD opened the week with a 3-0 win over Santa Clara. In this match, Shelby Staab led the Toreros offense as the junior middle blocker recorded nine kills, hit for a .389 clip and had three blocks. Chloe Ferrari also had a good offensive night, as she finished with eight kills, had two blocks and hit for a .316 clip. Rachel Alvey recorded 21 assists and had nine digs, while helping steer the USD offense to a .210 team attack percentage. Both Jianna Bonomi and Kandiss Anderson finished with nine digs apiece.

The Toreros then concluded the regular-season with a 3-0 loss to No. 18 Pepperdine University. In this match Sandra Lozic recorded a match-high 11 kills on 26 swings to hit for a .269 clip. Chloe Ferrari and Alaysia Brown each recorded eight kills. Rachel Alvey led the team with 20 assists, and Kandiss Anderson recorded 15 digs. As a team, USD hit .136, while Pepperdine hit .188.

San Diego now awaits the NCAA selection show this Sunday to learn where, when and who they will play in the first round of the NCAA Tournament.
