USD Cross-Country Invite 9/17/16

FRESHMAN (2016-17): Competed in three fall races and posted a personal best time at the Bronco Invite (23:21.7)... Also competed in the Mark Covert Classic (20:50.98) and the USD Invite (25:11)...Ran 4 races during the spring season and had personal best times in 3 of those races… Ran her fastest 5K at the OXY Invite (18:59.96)… Improved her 3K time at the Triton Invite (11:10.96)… Finished the season strong at the Steve Scott Invite with a personal best 1500M time (5:11.01).

HIGH SCHOOL: Hailey Purtzer ran for Bellarmine Preparatory School in Tacoma, Washington under Coach Matthew Ellis... She was the League Champion in the 3200m her senior year... After high school, Purtzer was recruited by Santa Clara and Marquette, but ultimately decided to attend USD for the campus atmosphere, university programs and networking opportunities associated with the university.

PERSONAL: Purtzer follows in the footsteps of most of her family being a college athlete. Purtzer’s grandmother ran cross country at University of Pugnt Sound at age 40, her brother runs at University of San Francisco and both her parents rowed at Washington State University... As soon as Purtzer could walk, she learned to ski. Ever since she loves to be outside whether at the mountains or the beach... Aside from athletics, Purtzer is following her dream to be a physical therapist... Her favorite snack is pretzels and peanut butter.
