Women's Cross Country

The West Coast Conference Cross Country Championships will be held on November 1st at the Crystal Springs Course, in Belmont, CA. The race in Belmont marks the 20th consecutive year that the championships will be held at this location. San Diego's Tiffanie Marley, the outright women's champion in both the Santa Clara Invitational and Pepperdine 5K, should challenge for the women's overall title. If Marley does place first in the 5K event in Belmont, she will hold the distinction as the only runner in USD school history (men or women) to win a WCC Championship.
The women's 5K course record at Crystal Springs in held by Gonzaga's Cheska Fairbanks, who ran a time of 17:26 in 1996. In 2002, Saint Mary's Allegra Porter recorded the second best women's time in WCC Championship history, finishing the 5K course in 17:42. She became only the sixth women's runner to break the 18 minute mark in WCC Championship history.
